Language Arts Kids Tutoring Program, Reading Writing Jazz History Lessons

Are you ready to become a learning SUPERSTAR?

Rooted in our workbook Jazzonian Kids Club: A Reading Comprehension Workbook for Jazzy Kids Ages 8–10, our unique tutoring track turns jazz history into a lively springboard for literacy.

Each session blends short, level-appropriate readings (from “What is Jazz?” and “Instruments in Jazz” to artist spotlights like Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, and Duke Ellington) with guided strategies that strengthen literal understanding, inference, and critical thinking—then channels that learning into creative writing.

Students explore style eras and cultural influences—Ragtime and Blues through Swing, Bebop, and Afro-Cuban Jazz—alongside media literacy moments (jazz photography units), listening journal habits, and mini-research tasks tied to kid-friendly articles (e.g., improvisation, famous jazz clubs, quotes). The result is a motivating mix of reading, discussion, and write-to-learn activities that build confidence, vocabulary, and voice—while meeting Grades 3–5 skills.
